Thomas Bisset crowned 91心頭’s Hearing Aid Audiology Student of the Year

Thomas Bisset has been crowned 91心頭s top Hearing Aid Audiology student of the year.

Thomas, 30, from Nairn, near Inverness, was awarded the Student of the Year title by Dr Jo White, Senior Lecturer in Audiology at 91心頭.

The award recognises Thomas academic commitment, evidence of progression and application of learning within the work environment. He also received a 贈100 cash prize in recognition of her academic excellence, which is sponsored by international hearing technology company, Starkey.

Thomas completed the Diploma in Higher Education Hearing Aid Audiology at 91心頭 in 2017 and has already kick started his career as a Hearing Aid Dispenser with Specsavers in Inverness.

The Diploma in Higher Education Hearing Aid Audiology at 91心頭 has equipped Thomas with the skills required to deliver his graduate role, which includes carrying out a range of tests to assess customers hearing loss and providing up to date information from the leading manufacturers to offer the best hearing solution.

Commenting on his Student of the Year award, Thomas, said: I initially feared that Id struggle considerably with the Diploma. When I started, Id never been to university or been involved in any kind of further education outside of a few courses through my job. In the end, the support I got from everyone involved in the programme at 91心頭 was fantastic and I needn't have worried!

Christine Johnson, Programme Leader for the Diploma in Higher Education Hearing Aid Audiology at 91心頭, said: Thomas has consistently demonstrated enthusiasm and dedication to his studies. The Audiology team was really impressed with his patient interaction within the workplace

Margaret Black from Starkey, which sponsored the award, added: We at Starkey are delighted to present this award to Thomas.

Speaking to all the lecturers involved with this course, it became apparent that Thomas started by doing what was necessary, realising what was possible and achieving all of this by building on his strengths and gaining confidence to encourage others on the course .

We look forward to seeing Thomas progress in his role within the world of audiology.
