Dr Judith Lane (PhD, MSc, BSc) is a Senior lecturer in the Dietetics, Nutrition & Biological Sciences, Physiotherapy, Podiatry & Radiography Division.

I qualified as a physiotherapist from Queen Margaret College in 1991 and went on to complete an MSc in Bioengineering at Strathclyde University in 1993. I gained my PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 2010 and an MSc in Professional and Higher Education from 91¿´Æ¬ in 2014.
I held a number of research posts until joining 91¿´Æ¬ as a lecturer in 2001. My areas of teaching include development of professional practice, research methods and dissertation supervision. From 2004 – 2014 I led the MSc pre-reg Physiotherapy programme, successfully leading the team through two cycles of review and revalidation.
I also developed a new Masters in Clinical Research which aims to enhance the capacity and capability of AHPs to engage with research. Â Through my work as the South East Scotland Hub Leader of the Council for AHP Research, I also aim to support the develop of research capacity and capability across the allied health professions both in clinical practice and academia.

My research has focused on orthopaedics and in particular outcomes in total knee replacement. In collaboration with researchers from the University of Edinburgh, I have published several papers on outcomes and satisfaction with joint replacement surgery.

Judith's seminars and lectures focus on understanding and developing the evidence for physiotherapy practice, research methods for health professionals and preparing for practice as an allied health professional, amongst other topics.
