- Overview
Clare joined QNIS in 2014, bringing her experience as a nursing leader in health care improvement and policy. A children’s nurse by background, she was appointed Director of the RCN’s UK Quality Improvement Programme in 2003, which included the NICE Collaborating Centre for Nursing and Supportive Care. She moved to Edinburgh in 2007, honing her influencing skills in community nursing as a Policy Adviser with the RCN. In 2016, Clare was awarded a Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholarship which enabled her to undertake leadership development with the Kings Fund and the Presencing Institute. She has worked in partnership with Prof Brendan McCormack and others to develop a transformational programme for community nurses in Scotland – the Queen’s Nurse Development Programme. The programme has been well evaluated and provides an extraordinary opportunity to develop nurses as community change makers. Clare works hard to develop networks across sectors so that the nursing voice is heard in unexpected conversations. Her vision is to unleash the creativity of nurses to be catalysts for positive change in the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.Ìý
