Lydia Osteoporosis
Overall, this project aims to raise frontline healthcare staff’s awareness of the prevalence of osteoporosis and the moving and handling needs of older people in acute care. The first project (LOP 1) comprised four phases; exploratory qualitative research with healthcare professionals and people (aged 60+) with confirmed osteoporosis, an education feasibility and evaluation study (experiential workshop intervention) with NHS staff, development of a complex education intervention focusing on osteoporosis, fracture risk, values-based safe and effective moving and handling, and dissemination. The second project (LOP 2) is an action research and evaluation study that adapts an online complex education intervention (an output from Phase 3 of the LOP 1) to the local context in collaboration with clinical staff, and the co-production of suitable implementation strategies.
