Coming from college with an Access qualification
We work closely with the Scottish Wider Access Programme, specifically SWAP East. SWAP provides full time, one year courses across a number of subject areas, delivered in local colleges.Ìý Their courses are aimed specifically at mature learners who are returning to education after a break of at least 3 years.Ìý SWAP students will typically have left school with few or no qualifications.Ìý Students studying a SWAP course will be intending to use their qualification as a pathway to further study, either at HN level or degree level.Ìý SWAP courses are accepted as a suitable entry qualification for first year on a number of 91¿´Æ¬ degree courses.
You’ll find a link to the SWAP Progression Finder where you can search which courses available at each of the local colleges offer suitable courses for 91¿´Æ¬ degrees, with a note of the entry requirements.
In addition to the SWAP Access programmes, we may consider other Access courses on an individual basis. This would normally include the Access to HE Diploma (RQF Level 3), University Access to Nursing (SCQF Level 6) or FETAC (QQI Level 5) Access courses, however there may be additional requirements for some degrees, so please contact Admissions for more information.
Applicants with BTEC qualifications or a combination of BTEC and other suitable qualifications are welcome to apply but are not usually eligible for advanced entry. For more information and with any other questions, please contact admissions@qmu.ac.uk.Ìý
