A cultivated space for meeting, looking and learning.Â
Outdoor Learning Hub at 91¿´Æ¬
Welcome to the 91¿´Æ¬ Outdoor Learning Hub Discovery Trail. The Outdoor Learning Hub is for everyone to enjoy, including our students, visitors, the communities we serve, and educators across Scotland. The Discovery Trail provides an accessible route through our woods, terraces, meadow, pond, hedgerows, and Wee Forest. In the Wee Forest you will find the Howff, a sheltered place for meeting, activities, learning and performance.
We invite you to think about the gifts of these outdoor places; how they offer opportunities for activity, learning and wellbeing. Imagine how you might learn, play, make, or be in places like this where you live, lead, work, or relax.
The wooden waymarkers show some interesting places to find. On each one there is a QR code. Use the camera on your phone to connect to online videos and information about what you could do in these kinds of places.
The stops on the route are set out below.
A grassland re-planted with meadow flowers.Â
The Howff - a sheltered gathering place in the Wee Forest.
An accessible place to grow fruit and vegetables.Â
The sea starts here - a pond connected to the River Esk.Â
A rich hedgerow - a wonderful habitat for plants, trees and animals.
Come through the wee gate and explore our woodland site.
We have created this Outdoor Learning Hub in partnership with Architecture & Design Scotland, and NatureScot.
"Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of autumn. "
Details to follow of how you can book any of the outdoor spaces for an organised activity.
