Our approach to learning and teaching
A major part, if not all, of your learning will be through online activity. You will use an extensive range of learning technologies and multimedia resources to support directed, independent learning. Contact between staff and students can involve recorded or live online lectures, seminars, case-based discussions and tutorials.
Focusing on the processes of learning is fundamental to our learning and teaching approaches. You will be expected to draw on your previous knowledge and skills to inform your postgraduate study and will benefit from a variety of interesting ways to participate and share experiences and opinions with your peers. Students on our master’s courses also reap the benefits of learning with students from other cultures.
Students on the MSc Mammography will attend classes at the beginning of each module at the Scottish Academy of Breast Imaging (SABI), and then carry out further independent work. As part of the MSc Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, students will be required to see patients weekly and to attend Group Supervision for the duration of the course.
A variety of assessment methods are used including; essays; literature reviews, practical examinations; portfolios; presentations; practice-based assessments; case studies; self, peer, group and tutor assessment of practical skills with feedback.
